A recent study conducted with 60 elementary school age children that have ADHD to investigate the effect of play therapy on school adjustment. The results showed that play therapy (Toy and Object Play and Role Play Technique) improved social interactions that required cooperation and communication. Play therapy sessions with their safe and calm environment provided stress relief, support, and improved emotional identification and regulation for children. The study showed increased executive functioning skills, positive self-perception and a more confident approach to learning.
